Thank you for such a validating comment! Does the text size issue apply for you only on importantmedia.org (such as my "Bright spots" post), or when you read an article on any of our specific sites, such as planetsave.com? Cheers!

I just finished your post titled "Bright spots in a dark time", and think you've summarized very accurately the issues with Wordpress.com and Wordpress.org, for those of us who'd really rather be a writer, not a web developer. Also, your post was one of the ONLY times I've seen Wordpress.com (which I use), explicitly mentioned in a critique, which I did appreciate!

Now for some feed back for your beta site redesign. The typeface and font size combination you've chosen renders very small. It seems equivalent to about an 8pt Trebuchet. I have Google Chrome browser set for low sight, which is describes my vision, but set to the least powerful of several levels offered (note I'm not referring to 150% or 200% magnification, this is a feature specific for accessibility). Even with that activated, it is hard for me to read the posts on importantmedia's site. (I noticed that the comment text is larger though).

Also, by comparison, most other websites are adequately or oven overly large with my current low sight setting. That is why I think text on your site is really on the small side, else I wouldn't mention anything. Just a thought, as you DID ask for feedback. Otherwise, everything is great! No broken links, pages load quickly, widgets work, all seems in good shape!

Hi Geoff! You can see our network in action at any of the 16 websites listed and linked to in the "Sites" list linked at the top of this page. Each site is run in a pretty decentralized way, with the community platform supporting the common elements of each of those 16 sites. Organism looks very interesting as well -- we're just starting from an existing set of assumptions and iterating on the fly, without trying to revolutionize any single angle.

"One need look no further than watching TV reporters point the camera at their MacBook Pro as they read tweets live as they appear in the stream." Absolutely true. Web 2.0 has brought a wave of exciting new function to the web, but design has lagged. I would like to SEE more of your proposed/existing service.

Much appreciated, David, and great write-up on what our network offers.

Comment I left on Facebook about this

-- one of the most satisfying points of my blogging career to have thousands of overly grateful parents, brothers, sisters, daughters, grandchildren, and more totally relieved from reading my post -- and days later, I'm finally getting comments from people confirming that everything is/was OK in Okinawa. Lucky I could find a source there saying so early on when no one else seemed to be covering this topic so important to so many people. & lucky our network is so well-optimized for Google search that people could find the info on our blog.
